Yuppiedom here I come!

yuppie |ˈyəpē| (also yuppy)noun ( pl. -pies) informal derogatorya well-paid young middle-class professional who works in a city job and has a luxurious lifestyle.
Today I took another step toward yuppiedom. And I loved it. Do you ever have perfect moments? I had one today. Picture this: I'm riding my lovely beach cruiser (with a whicker basket on the front) along a trail wearing my favorite striped shirt, cropped skinny jeans, and my new J Crew ballet flats with my good friends B and CC. The sun was shining, the weather the refreshing, and I found myself in bliss. This bodes well for the upcoming year. Next stop, bike ride with a picnic. Yuppiedom here I come!

Everything and Nothing

I was reading a poem yesterday, and two lines really stuck out to me:

"I tell you everything that's nothing,

And nothing of what's everything."

I don't know if you've ever felt that way or had things that you kept in. But it got me thinking...

Another WTHIL moment...

My friend and I both had headaches and needed the lights off. So we were sitting on my couch, watching a movie....in the dark. And what do I see in my periphery? Something black run out from under my couch and under something that was sitting next to my coffee table. I slightly freaked. I know that sight all too well. We both jumped up and grabbed a shoe and flipped on the light. We lifted up the movie case and sure enough, a big roach bolted out from under and towards my Christmas tree. Shouting and slamming shoes ensued, but the little bugger still managed to get under my Christmas tree before I could smash him. I hate those little guys. After about ten minutes, thanks to Christa, I squished that sucker. Christa stood on my shoe while I grabbed a bunch of paper towel. You can never be to careful. These little guys play dead. I have left the shoe over the presumed dead roach before and when I went to clean it up, it was gone. Have I mentioned how much I hate these? Anyway, we successfully killed and flushed the nasty bug. So here's my WTHIL moment....WTHIL is a roach still doing alive and in my house in JANUARY?!?!!?!?! I usually don't have to deal with big bugs until the summer. I love you North Carolina, but these bugs take you down a notch. They mess with my sanity.

WTHil!?!?!?

Here's my WTHil moment for the week. It's a good one this time! One of my fellow shopaholics(yes, CC, I'm calling you out) informed me of a crazy yet fabulous shopping experience in my area. J Crew has been holding a warehouse sample sale in Chapel Hill. I went yesterday. Amazing. I scored four beautiful pairs of shoes and four amazing dressings for super cheapo prices! I may have a problem. Okay, not even "may". I do have a shopping problem. But it's only a problem if it disrupts my life right? So far so good! Here's some pics of the dresses I bought. I bought the short one in navy and black. I bought the long one in black and chocolate brown.

Just thinking....

I just watched the movie, "The Divine Secrets of the Ya Ya Sisterhood." If you haven't seen it, some of the main characters are four ladies who have been friends their whole lives. It got me thinking. Why are female friendships so important? And what makes a lasting friendship? Why do some friendships endure and some just fizzle? Anyway...I was just thinking. I was also thinking how grateful I am for my good friends. Thanks y'all for all the ways you have made my life better!
