Gotta love autumn!

Autumn has quickly become my favorite season. Especially here. All the trees look amazing. One of my favorite things to do is carve pumpkins. Here's some pictures from pumpkin carving night.

We had such a good time. We carved pumpkins while eating halloween M&M's and drinking cider. What more could you want for a Friday night!?!

State Fair

I have fallen in love with the south. I never knew I would love it so much. I love their accents and secretly wish I would pick it up! (I guess it's not secret anymore!) I love the food, the culture, the music (who knew I would EVER admit to liking country music!). Turns out, I fit in really well here! A few days ago a few of my friends and I went to the North Carolina State Fair. It was so fun! It was huge and we walked around for six hours. I have never seen so many food booths full of fried foods! They fry everything here! They served macaroni and cheese, coke, cheeseburgers, oreos, pecan pie, pickles, every candy bar imaginable, cheesecake, and a bunch of other things...all fried! I was so sick by the end of the night! The highlight of the night were the pig races. It was hilarious! They had little potbelly pigs racing, pygmy goats, and ducks race. I was laughing so hard! The announcer was classic too with a thick southern drawl and a handlebar mustache. Here's some pictures from the fair.

Treated like Queens

The girls in my ward were recently treated like queens. Several of the men in my ward treated us to a four course dinner... and it was fantastic!!!! When I walked in the door of the institute I saw this:

After being greeted by the purple velvet suit, another guy in a bowtie came around the corner and seated me in the common area that they had turned into a dining room. They made it look so nice!

All the guys were dressed up and wearing bowties. They looked so cute!!! We had pumpkin black bean soup, salad, autumn risotto with carmelized apples, and herb braised chicken. It was so yummy and those sweet guys had been there since 8:00 in the morning cooking. It was so nice to have the priesthood spoil us like that.
